9/11

Before I say anything else, I must send out prayers, thoughts, and love to anyone directly impacted by the events of September 11, 2001. We were all effected, but so many were touched personally, and to you, I offer all my love.

September 11, 2001 is a day that will always stand out in everyone's minds. You will always remember exactly where you were when you first heard, how the rest of your day went, your thoughts, feelings, and fears. I feel like it was just yesterday that I walked through the hallways of my high school and saw a classmate crying, while another asked if his dad was up in the air that day. Living so close to a military base, so many of my fellow classmates had parents, siblings, or other family serving. I remember then walking into my biology class with my best friend, as our crying teacher ushered us inside, pulled all the curtains closed and locked the door. She told us they weren't supposed to have TV's on, but she couldn't live with herself if she didn't let us all watch. The images we saw on that TV would haunt us all forever. An entire class of 10th graders sat in silence for an entire hour as we tried to understand what was going on, and as we tried to wrap our heads around this strong woman sitting in front of our class sobbing. I'll never forget sitting in our last period of the day, while the principal came over the PA system and asked us for a moment of silence, and then played "Proud to be an American". And I'll never forget going home and sitting on my best friend's couch and watching hours and hours of coverage of the horror. That day is burned in my memory, as it is for everyone who was here to experience it. I only pray that my son never sees something so horrific in his lifetime.

September 11, 2001 was also the ONLY year my father ever forgot his anniversary. Which brings me to say....HAPPY 30th ANNIVERSARY, MOM AND DAD!!!!!

Every day, I feel like the luckiest person on earth to have such wonderful parents. Parents who taught me right from wrong, who never let me want for anything in life, but also taught me I would have to work for things, they wouldn't just be handed to me. Parents who pushed me every day to be the best I could be, and loved me despite my mistakes along the way. Parents who taught me how to be a wife and a mother better than anyone else ever could have. I hope I've made the last 26 years of your 30 worth while, Mom and Dad! I love you more every day!

Great parents get promoted to Grandparents, and you two are the best at that, too!!!

The highlight of our day so far has been our morning play date with Natalie and Gavin! Landon always has a blast with his cousin, and this mommy could not get through without that mama by her side. Natalie really does qualify as a super mommy, and I'm so proud to call her one of my very best friends; one of the few that really gets me. Every mama needs another mama that she never has to be embarrassed to tell things to, never judges her, and that she can call for anything. If you don't have one already, get one!!! Natalie makes my life a million times better just by being in it!

Still loving having my windows open, and our brisk morning walk this morning was the best. But from what I hear, our air conditioner can't take the winter off yet, 80's are coming back for the next few days. I love summer, I do. But I have significantly weakened over the years in my tolerance to the extreme heat, and this summer has been ABSURD!! I am sooooo ready for cooler weather, sweaters, and of course, all of Landon's new, warmer, cozier clothes! ;)
